This is the moment a professional skier ditched his skis and slid down a mountain using just his boots.

Andri Ragettli, 23, a professional freestyle skier from Laax, Switzerland, pulled off the trick while on a skiing trip in Piz Corvatsch – a mountain in the Bernina Range of the Alps.

The footage – posted on his Instagram on February 28 – shows Andri, who has won several world cup titles, trying the ski-less skiing trick for the first time while on a trip with his brother Gian Ragettli, 26.

Although setting off down the slope with his skis on, Andri quickly casts them aside while in motion – beginning the ski-less ski.

With ski poles still in his hands, he keeps his balance while shooting down the snow-layered mountain in a crouched pose.

He then drops down onto his stomach and, with his hands behind his back, he continues speeding down the snowy mountainside.

In 2016, at only 17-years-old, Andri won the World Cup Series and the Crystal Globe.

At age 18, he did the first ever ‘quad cork 1,800’ on skis – a dizzying somersault, usually performed on a snowboard, involving catapulting off a ramp into four off-axis flips (called corks) and five full spins.

The Swiss entertained his nearly half a million Instagram followers by setting up a parkour course in his mother’s house during lockdown.

The at-home parkour had him running across the tops of falling dining room chairs, gliding along an outdoors windowsill and backflipping off a dining room table.

Andri told MailOnline: ‘The video’s purpose was to entertain everyone during lockdown and cheer them up – and to help raise awareness and money for the World Health Organisation to fight the pandemic Covid-19.

‘But I don’t want anyone to try this at home. Please don’t forget that I’m a professional athlete and I have done this many times before.’
