Meghan Markle’s interview with Ellen is mocked by Today’s snarky presenter and Karl Stefanovic

Meghan Markles interview with Ellen is mocked by Todays snarky

An Australian reporter couldn’t resist taking a swipe at Meghan Markle on Thursday after she recorded yet another tell-all TV interview.

Today show U.S. correspondent Amelia Adams delivered a news update about the Duchess of Sussex’s surprise sit-down with Ellen DeGeneres, which will air in America on Friday following the release of a trailer earlier this week.

‘Not sure we’ll hear any bombshells [about the Royal Family] in tomorrow’s chat with her old friend Ellen. Certainly, at this stage, the clip they’ve released is Meghan reminiscing about her days as a struggling actress,’ Ms Adams explained.

‘She spent a fair bit of time at the Warner Bros. studio, where the Ellen Show is recorded, and she said she used to show up there in an old Ford Explorer with a broken door.’

Today then aired a clip from Meghan’s interview, showing the former Suits star, 40, sitting on Ellen’s couch in a white bishop-sleeve blouse and black pants.

‘So after auditions, I would park at the back of the parking lot and I would open the trunk and climb in and then pull it shut behind me and crawl over all my seats to get out. That’s how I would come to and fro,’ Meghan laughed.

After the teaser ended, Ms Adams snarkily remarked: ‘Yeah, she’s just keeping it real there… in a $4,000 Oscar De La Renta blouse.’

‘Safe to say she has moved up in the world since those days,’ she added.

Today co-host Karl Stefanovic, who is an outspoken critic of Prince Harry and Meghan, chuckled at the barbed remark about the Duchess ‘keeping it real’.

Story from her past: 'So after auditions, I would park at the back of the parking lot and I would open the trunk and climb in and then pull it shut behind me and crawl over all my seats to get out. That's how I would come to and fro,' Meghan laughed

He smirked: ‘Well done, Amelia, well done. A little sting in the tail there, I like that.’

Meghan’s appearance on the Ellen show will be her first major TV interview since her infamous Oprah tell-all alongside Harry in March.

Her account of her lack of cash while starting out as an actress comes weeks after she said she ‘grew up on the $4.99 salad bar at Sizzler’ in a letter to U.S. politicians asking them to vote for Joe Biden’s plans for better maternity and paternity pay.

Royals experts questioned whether Americans would be impressed ‘by her account of how she had to struggle’ when her estranged father Thomas put her through private school from kindergarten and she now lives in a $14million LA mansion while sitting on a $100million fortune.

Her claims also faced serious questions after it emerged she previously bragged that as a schoolgirl her father regularly took her to one of LA’s most famous restaurants where celebrities gobble up steaks, which now cost $55.

A 2013 post from Meghan’s Instagram account, deleted when she started dating Prince Harry, reveals that the Duchess told her three million followers of ‘happy’ times at the Musso and Frank Grill on Hollywood Boulevard – and hinted she ate there regularly after dance lessons.

Meghan shared a picture of its famous sign above a vintage Mercedes with the caption: ‘I used to have lunch with my dad here after every tap & ballet class. Happy. Thank you. More please #mussos #hollywood.’

The restaurant, opened in 1919 and famed for its grilled meat and fish, is worlds away from the cheap Sizzler salad Meghan claims to have been brought up on, and is loved by Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Harrison Ford, Brad Pitt and Keith Richards.

One critic told MailOnline: ‘She has receipts all over her Instagram contradicting her poverty letter’.

Another said: ‘She went to one of the most expensive schools in Los Angeles – but they couldn’t afford to spend more than $5 on a weekend dinner. I mean, during this time, Thomas was working on a hit TV show and had won an Emmy. WTH is she talking about?’
