Scotland Yard detectives arrest man, 52, in west London on suspicion of ‘collecting information likely to be useful to a person preparing an act of terrorism’

Terror police arrested a man after finding ‘a number of devices’ at a house in west London today.

Officers from the Met’s counter terrorism command arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of collecting information ‘likely to be useful to a person preparing an act of terrorism’.

He was taken to a London police station but released on police bail until a date in late December.

The police said in a statement: ‘Investigators are analysing a number of devices as part of their ongoing enquiries.’

Britain’s terror level threat was raised to severe after the Liverpool Poppy Day blast.

It means a terror attack is seen to be ‘highly likely’.

In the past year around 10,000 reports from the public across the UK have been made to counter terrorism officers about suspected terrorist activity.

Around a fifth of those reports provided useful intelligence, which went on to help counter terrorism investigations and help officers stop terrorist activity.
