Australian sailor ‘drugged and raped’ while on exchange with New Zealand navy is told it can’t be investigated because it happened overseas

  • Jennifer was raped by a senior officer while on HMNZ in Singapore in 2007 
  • She told her supervisor the next day who dissuaded her from lodging a report
  • In 2018, she reported the sexual assault to the Commonwealth Ombudsmen 
  • In response, it said the case was ‘out of its jurisdiction’ and wouldn’t be probed
