Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has only been in the job a few weeks, but he is about to get a massive pay rise – the largest increase for federal politicians 10 years.
In just over two weeks his salary will rise to more than $564,000, while the lowest paid backbench MPs will get $217,060 plus allowances.
The 2.75 per cent raise announcement by the Remuneration Tribunal comes just a day before a decision on whether or not to lift the minimum wage, which is due on Wednesday.
