Sir Keir faced an open challenge to his authority as Labour leader today as a senior shadow minister refused to punish one of her team for supporting striking rail workers.

Shadow Transport Secretary Louise Haigh ruled out action against Sam Tarry, after the shadow local transport minister joined RMT members on the picket line on Monday.
